Cafe Hopping in Greenpoint
Exploring some of Brooklyn’s best coffee shops in Greenpoint.
Greenpoint is one of my favorite neighborhoods to grab a cup of coffee with friends because of its brooklyn warehouse vibes, high cafe density, and quiet waterfront streets. Coffee shops strike the right balance between european charm and brooklyn cool, with artisanal roasts and creative spaces.
A Taste of Europe
As you wander through the tree-lined streets of Greenpoint, you’ll find an array of european-inspired cafes. Head to Bakeri, a cozy Scandinavian-inspired cafe, for one of the best cinnamon buns in new york city. Radio Bakery serves up some rich Italian foccaccia that typically sells out by lunchtime. Maman’s french bistro offerings are second only to their hanging tables, a design feature that’s earned them a recurring spot on NYC’s Instagram coffee scene. And don’t miss out on Cafe Riviera, where you can order some of the best pastries in Greenpoint (in polish) — make sure to try a slice of the sesame cake.
Creative Spaces and Cultural Hub
In-between caffeine rounds, check out Greenpoint’s artisan & indie shop scene. Head to Archestratus Books + Foods for a unique blend between bookstore and Sicilian cafe. Browse the staff-curated fiction section at Word. Try out every type of pen (including fountain pens) at Yoseka Stationery, then oggle Wilcoxson’s beautiful ceramic mugs next door. Stock up on british tea at Bellocq’s Tea Atelier and if the stars align (and it’s a weekend day), then just maybe Elpida Vintage or renewfinds are open to browse their curated selection of vintage furniture.
Hidden Gems and Local Favorites
Speaking of mugs, you can enjoy a casual cup of coffee in a very Brooklyn space - Homecoming is a hybrid cafe, flower shop and homeware store that may just feature the biggest selection of @workadayhandmade’s pieces in the city. For a local favorite that gets lots of love online, head to Rhythm Zero - the most aesthetic cafe hidden behind a sterile glass storefront. Sit on vintage designer furniture, sip a cortado, and mull over the merch they just launched. Fair warning: it gets crowded, but if you’re lucky enough to get a seat, it’s laptop friendly and full of other creative people. No cafe hopping adventure would be complete without uncovering a few hidden gems along the way. And if you find yourself wandering down Noble Street, stop into Flower Cat, which looks, well, exactly how it sounds. Featuring Grandma-core wallpaper with vintage frames, cat-themed accessories and a selection of bouquets for sale, it’s a quiet spot to enjoy your first or fourth coffee of the day. We don’t judge.
